At Cranmer Country Cottages we are ideally situated close to the wonderful beaches and pinewoods of north Norfolk providing an ideal location for painting holidays. We provide luxury acommodation within easy reach of some of Norfolks most dramatic scenery offering inspiration for painters and photographers alike.
Norfolk has a long history of attracting artists with its unspoilt and dramatic sea and landscape under fantastic sweeping skies. The wonderful changing light reflected in muddy creeks or on distant shores provides a wealth of inspiration for a landscape painting holiday.
Our smallest cottage Coot sleeps 2 and is an ideal artists retreat for short breaks or longer holidays. The extensive gardens offer an oportunity to relax and sketch or paint in the rural landscape immediately surrounding our cottages whilst a trip to the coast can take a minimum of 20 minutes. Within realatively short walks or cycle rides from Cranmer country cottages it is possible to immerse yourself in the quiet tranquility of the Norfolk countryside. For artists wishing to imrove or revitalise their oil painting skills we are fortunate to be close to the Norfolk Painting School in North Creake (within 10 mins of Cranmer). The Norfolk Painting School is owned and run by local artist Martin Kinnear. Martin specailsies in dramatic oil landscapes and is enthusiastic in sharing his skills and experiences with those who are keen to learn or improve their technique. Courses are held over weekends or during the week in the studio or out on location nearby. Whether it is a weekend of leisure painting or you are a dedicated artist in search of in-depth instruction there are courses to suit you. Oh, and there is a scrummy home cooked lunch provided in the old schoolroom at luchtime, giving students an oportunity to get together and share their knowlwedge - with breaks for tea and cofee in between.
